This actually seems like a really good approach to me. Eating a burger every mile seems like an absolute disaster. You seriously think you can complete a mile with 5 big macs in your stomach (and most likely coming back up your throat)? No chance. You can walk and eat no problem though. Run those 4 miles - 6 minute pace. Then briskly walk while chowing down on your burgers. This actually sounds appealing to me. This approach has been the first one to actually make me quite hungry.
Also, if you buy them the night before and you're allowed to do whatever you want with the burgers, why don't you blend them into a big mac shake or slurpie? A big mac shake would, I guess, still taste like a big mac, but it would definitely slide down the ol' gullet easier, especially after a four miles on the road.
