Am I working my kids too hard? I'm working with 8th and 9th graders for XC. Most kids show up 3 times a week, tops. They are inexperienced. I have them do ~10' of running, a 5' break, and repeat 2 or 3 times. We have been training since June 1st. Nothing under 9:00 (really 10:00) pace except for one workout I got from Daniels' book. I have them do a 1km loop twice, then 4 strides of 80m at maybe 7:00 pace. Then they do 2 loops, then strides, then another loop and they're done.
Today I got yelled at by the head coach for working them too hard. Am I crazy or this a pretty easy summer schedule?He was vehemently against doing strides.
