If China has government healthcare, and if government healthcare is superior to the for-profit US system, why did the Chinese government risk the health of their country's best and most beloved athlete to the states to be butchered at the hands of greedy, profit-seeking American doctors?

China has plenty of private doctors and medical businesses. Its about as "free market" as you could get, with the usual litany of disasters in the plastic surgery realm.
i don't think anyone would argue that the US healthcare system isn't the best in the world for the super-rich
