What do all of you think about this?
What do all of you think about this?
Hey, if it worked for healthcare and the semiconductor industries...
how many dnfs has kimani had besides last years xc nats?
While I feel compelled to say that this would be great and that immigration is what this country is all about, I still would like to see more native-born Americans running well.
For him, I think there is no question-- why go to a country that is poor and corrupt when you can stay in the US? And, he wouldn't have to peak for the National Championships to go to the Olympics or WCs. Remember that in 1992, the 3000m SC team did not include the WR-holder, the defending Oly champ or the defending World Champ-- three separate people. But, the Kenyans still swept the medals
Second place is better than what Meb, Abdi, etc. have done.
I think that it is great. US citizenship should be open to anyone and it can only help our talent (and genetic) pool.
This is a joke. Has anyone ever talked to Kimani? The guy can barely speak English.
I know the argument that the only true Americans are the Indians and all that, but it still frustrates me that Meb and Abdi are our top two distance runners. Especially when Meb did a victory lap at the Trials with an Eritrean flag. I respect these guys as athletes and runners, but part of me feels that guys like Hauser are being short changed to some extent.
So if Kimani steps up to be an American, we'll be just like France with a bunch of Afrimericans dominating our teams. Yeah, we'll be more competitive, but at the same time, we'll flush out some of the products of our own developing systems.
You white boys just can't run. Don't blame the brothers for whipping your butts. They are just plain better.
I think that if it's true it's pretty sweet. I mean, who's stepped up to El G besides him? Anyway, If I remember correctly, the vast majority of the people living in the US are immigrants or descendents of immigrants, so what's the big deal. If people are saying that it's not fair to the "natural born Americans" I say it's all the more reason for them to step up. America is all about bringing together people from all over. No ne complained when Einstein was living in the United States (did he become naturalized?) or howabout Arturo Sandival, probably the best Jazz trumpet player in the world, he became a citizen after defecting from Cuba, no one's whining about how he's taking grammys or something away from natural born Americans. Hey, now Allan Webb has the second best miler/1500m runner in the world to train with in the US. He has someone to possibly qualify with and learn from, the other guys now have someone ahead of them running the best times in the world and unless they run that too well, no olympics for them. Good for Lagat, he did go to school at Northern Arizona I believe. Now, Meb or Abdi or whoever carrying th other flag, that pisses me off, but as long as they consider themselves Americans, I will too. Now, we have the world record in the Marathon and the only guy to ever approach the times of El G. Both of whom pretty much have done most of their training of their careers in the US.
Alright, I am stupid. Please disregard anything that I said in the previosu message. I mixed up kimani and lagat and for that I must not be taken seriously on this subject. I'm usually pretty on when it comes to this stuff but i had a brain lapse. A day in school will do that for you I guess. Sorry again. I'll try to do better next time.
ummm, I think you're confusing Kimani with Bernard Lagat.
Kimani speaks fine english, and he should become a us citzen.
Tim
I will give him 3 years before he is useless just like Hanneck. It doesn't take long for them to get soft.
Everyone had to come over here at some point.
Joseph or David? Or who?

You're an idiot. Kimani speaks just fine. He has an accent, but it's not bad at all. He's been over here for 4 years and he's assimilated quite well. Quit with the xenophobia bull. America could use a 13:10 5k guy.
Dirt
You said Kimani will be soft in three years? Thats your opinion but your are wrong! David Kimani is a phenomanal athlete and would be a tremendous addition to our already fine up and coming ELITE runners. I would definetly like to see our native Americans do well; however, only if they can outrun, jump, or throw the naturalized Americans.
