Actually a great(er) race by Brandon Bethke--first college guy in 13:27. German--if even healthy now--is going to have some competition.

is german going after the 5k outdoor?
must be some weird DyeStat mentality working here.
The guy finishes 12th and you're swinging from his nuts?

Bethke doesn't step up in the big one.
Bethke ran 13:27 last year too.
Yeah, but Mt Sac was where he peaked last year.
His training has him peaking at NCAA this year so he is right on track. Where would you rather run your fastest 5k... Mt Sac or NCAA's?
Yes, German has competition.
It's Bethke's year.
My bad, a simple typo.
Huling is going to rock the next couple of years. Most underated distance runner in US in an event we can actually be competitive if he can get to 8:10 or faster! Trains all by himself in beautiful Oxford Ohio!

Way to go. You are now slower than when you were a freshman.
You know you are slow when you can start your season faster than your best time the previous year, unless your a junior in high school.
He'll likely be in 13:20 shape or better by the end of season.

Are you f***ing serious? The steeple is pretty much the least likely event a USA runner can excel in on the international level. You run 8:09 and you are getting your ass handed to you every day by 10 Kenyans. And he doesn't train by himself in Oxford, he trains with a pretty damn good group in Columbus.
I'm now thinking you are a troll.
I agree, theres no reason for Chris to doubt himself, he's overcome an injury and ran only what, 2 seconds off his pr? This was very impressive for him.
Yep, right at his PR and he's not rounded into peak form yet. Frankly, any improvement after a nagging injury is impressive. Is he running the 10,000 at Stanford? I'd like to see it. He'll go sub-28:00.
Hope he doesn't run the 10,000m at Stanford...another 5,000m would be perfect. Coming off the injury...don't get too crazy too early. I'd love to see him get his 5,000m PR lower

Great post, and very true.

Yeah, but he could run another 5000 elsewhere at peak form. This guy could set the Stanford record in the 10,000 right now.

That's a huge run by the brand new post collegiate D2 runner. Wow, Adams and Martin are machines. I am glad to see another post collegiate D2 having some success.

Derrick could run 13:20 by June. Not sure.
Great race by Heath, 13:29 is great. Great overall race too. Lots of guys ran fast. Can't wait till Stanford!

So did he intentionally train to peak at Mt. Sac last year? I like Bethke, but I don't see him doing that much better at NCAAs this year.
consider that Derrick ran only something like 8:03 3k in his previous race, he is coming off an injury, and ran only two seconds off his pr. If he is healthy for the rest of the season, he should drop a lot of time.
Lee Emmanuel was right around him. Isn't that a huge drop for him at this distance? If so, he is going to go 3:33 or better this year in Europe.
