Perhaps you mean the Fins? Assmouth.
Nice work riffing off of the misspelled country name!
The Miracle on Ice is overrated. Anybody can win at home. Van Cliburn completed the greatest upset in modern history and he did it on Russian turf. Go look him up and thank me later.
I know these are all jokes but if it was confirmed would that change anyone's enjoyment that was experienced 30 years ago?
You can't change the moment.
Like Carl Lewis crossing the line second in 1988.
Or Kiprop crossing the line second in 2008.
Or anyone (except Thanou) crossing the line second behind Marion Jones.

no i won't change anybody's enjoyment back then but you have to admit it's going to ruin hockey in america today when more people realize this is what happened. the only thing americans hate more than steroid users are people who throw games. it will ruin american hockey and the nhl will go under.

Tretiak was pulled after the first period. Was he on the take from the bench?
Simple. The entire world knows what it means to an Olympics to have the USA participating. Huge dollars. Hadn't we already announced our intention to boycott Moscow? Yes, that is a good enough reason for Russia to roll over. And the US then beat the Czechs. Not that big a stretch.
The Miracle on Ice was nevertheless an important prelude to the defeat of the Soviet Army Cowards, known as squirelly sons of Mongol whores who whine like little bitches at the slightest amount of pain. Not just the Soviets but their descendants who are in the U.S. Army can't take pain and bitch like little hoes.
Apparently it is a big stretch for you to realize (even after it has already been corrected in this thread) that the US then beat the Fins, not the Czechs.

at the end of the first period. He was being punished for letting easy scores go through. The russian coach later said it was his biggest mistake.

you americans are the worst sort of people. what do you mean nobody? how about the european union???? you freshwater yanks need to wake up to the fact that your little nation is not the most important thing in the world and that it's polite to be able to spell a people's nationality correctly. it makes me sick that you people also actually think your team of dumb students beat the best in the world on "level" ice. it was rigged. get it through your thick skulls johns.
Nobody is you. You, and you're EC . It's gone. You let all of your cultures be raped for 5 years of prosperity .
The Soviets most definitely did not throw the game. Try watching clips on youtube, the Soviets massively outplayed the Americans and it was amazing USA could hang on. The Soviets outshot the Americans four to one.
I doubt they threw the game. However plenty of people on Ice Hockey games have pointed out that particular Russian Ice Hockey team was massively overrated and overhyped and in transition as shown by the fact they struggled in a previous game and were due a loss if they carried on.
It's not like the Soviets hadn't lost an important international game (or four) before. See: Henderson, Paul.

In the middle of the game Tretyak, maybe the greatest goalie of all time up to then, was pulled out by the coach after he gave up a goal. Babushkyn gave up the game winner.
That Soviet had never had to rally from behind. The coach blew it when he replaced Tretyak, and blew it again when he didn't pull the goalie for an extra attacker in the last minute. They had never worked on it because they had never been behind at the end of a game.

Luckily Silverstein, his son, and his daughter all failed to show up for work that day. Sure the odds of all 3 not being there are one in millions. But had to be pure coincidence no doubt
Well done!
