This man deserves some respect now, huh!?!
The boy is a competitor! After talking to him he had the head to do it. We always believed now so will everyone else.
Glad to have had the pleasure of working with him at
The Colorado Running Company.
hear he works part time at Pier One. God damn! Pier One employees rock!!!
Trent ran the race of his life, best story of the day.
I think that he'll be at Athens.
Jason
So do I Jason, actuall I think the team eventually will consist of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th finishers from the Marathon trials.

Unreal race Trent. You had a goal and you worked your ass off to get there. Congrats.
Holly crap, Trent Briney got 4th? Damn!!!!!!! Way to go man... Damn!!!!!!!!!
this guy has a job, so what is Jason or Weldon excuse you guys training practically full-time. Lace them up and run some more. Jeeze
Trent holy cow.....now I really feel guilty that I didn\'t get out and run with you even more during our college days!!
Jason just back from the race in BHam, I never got the chance to meet you, a great disappointment. I did get the opportunity to chat with TB before the flight & after, also a few of the Hanson guys. They said a ton a great stuff about you.
Let's hear a bit more about this guy. Who can tell us how he's trained over the last couple of years that put him in a position to make such a wild leap forward?
I for one want to know. Anybody got the goods?
This is from the Hanson's web-site.
Pete, Trent worked for me aftre college before Hansons. He was a low milage guy 70-80 in college that got him to 29:14 in the 10,000. He was a good local guy. Then Jason Hubbard suggested him to Hansons. He wanted to go but didn't know about his talent/committment. All the questions, Should I use my degree get a real job be an adult. We encouraged him to take this once in a lifetime chance. Took him about 18 months to get used to higher mileage. He wasn't racing well until XC in December. I told him it looked like he was going to finally break though nad run some good races. He visiteed over X-Mas and was very upbeat. The coaches were showing confidence in him. He was happy. Houston was a good race for him. Only pushed last mile new pr. I thought at the trials he would be in the pack till 15/16 and on a good day be 2:15. He showed me. A nicer guy you couldn't meet. Always was interested in how FatOldGuys running was. The store was just giddy on Sat. at the news. I hope he goes. He has give us all at Lets Run and all runners HOPE.
Having run against Trent in junior high and HS, then being his #2 man at CU-Colorado Springs from '96-'00, I should know by now never to be surprised by a Trent Briney breakout performance.
Seems like every time I crossed the finish line back at mid-pack I would hear the news and say, "Trent ran WHAT?" Right when you think the man's progress has to plateau somewhere, he uncorks another big PR.
I'll have to admit I was shocked at first, but after thinking about it, the '04 marathon trials was really no different. Just classic Trent Briney believing in himself and letting his legs and lungs do the rest.
No one should question Trent's arrival on the national scene. His relative anonymity is a result of the modest Div II publicity. Competing in arguably the best running conference (RMAC) in the nation in any division, Trent was frequently among the top Americans in the championship XC or track races. He was overlooked because he was not always the winner, but he ran times comparable to or better than the top Div I athletes. That's the name of the game for a Div II runner.
Many argue that the Birmingham conditions were not representative of the conditions expected in Athens. Trent has always been a hot-weather runner. I can't imagine what he might have run had it been 80-degrees in B'ham. The man is an animal in hot conditions. Let's hope he runs in Athens.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
