I think people should try raising chickens and killing them themselves for their food. There'd be less waste and more appreciation of the chicken (and possibly more vegetarians).

why is it vegetarian dishes always tastes better with bacon?
proven fact.
Everything tastes better with bacon
WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WHAT OTHERS THINK? YOU ARE A TOOL!
I think people should try doing surgery on their family member for health care - there would be a lot more appreciation of doctors and far fewer appendectomies.

Flubber,
Your logic is flawed. Most people are qualified to raise chickens, but not to do surgery.
The point Mrs. M is making is that if people have a better understanding of where their food comes from, they would respect it more and waste less. I'm sure tne amount of chick puree from the hatcherys is small in comparison to the chicken and beef that is discarded in McDonald's and BK trash cans every year.
An important message here is (animal rights aside) the efficiencies of industry and technology enable us to waste more than ever.

QFE
chicken fried bacon smothered in sausage cream sauce is actually 97.6% as good as having sex- FACT!
RB - thanks for putting it more eloquently than I did. I was hoping someone else would point out Flubber's poor logic.
Those chicks are really cute!
Any other way of killing them would probably be expensive enough to skyrocket the price of buying chicken at the store.

Damn right. Eggs are expensive enough as it is. F*** these fringe fanatics who do nothing but try to convince others to live their way. If their way was so damn great, I think we could decide for ourselves if we wanted to live like them. I'll eat what the hell I want to eat when I want to eat it.
Right now I'm thinking of a nice three egg omlette.
Yeah, seeing that video isn't going to stop me from eating beef, bison, chicken, eggs, etc. I dislike PETA just as much as the next guy. It's just one of those things people don't think about and aren't exposed to, so I was curious as to what their reactions would be.
Sorry to put a political spin on things, but doesn't this video make the outrage over 'killing' a cluster of roughly 100 cells (with no nervous system or organ tissues of any kind) seem a little silly?

Uh, no.
Have you ever seen an ultrasound at 20 weeks you f***ing dimwit?

Not at all. I totally value a human fetus way more than I value the lives of baby chickens.
Slightly off topic, but Chicago area people older than 35 may appreciate this little dark secret.
The Museum of Science and Industry had a display for years showing chicks being incubated and hatching. Cute fuzzy things waddling around. The kids loved it. After a day or 2 of fuzziness they were sent over to Lincoln Park Zoo to feed the snakes.

Only the fat people will be vegetarians because they won't be able to chase after the chicken for 2 hours like rocky until they catch it and finally chop its head off.
Choking the chickens would be much more humane. And fun.

it's the circle of life. good for the museum and the zoo for getting together and making something work for everyone.
Running Bear, your logic is flawed - I read a lot of the posts here on Letsrun.com and most people are not qualified to raise chickens.

Who cares about chicks and baby seals, as long as we can kill baby humans.
How come Huffington Post won't show any abortion videos?
