Now, you just blew your cover. As socalcush pointed out, you have no "inside guy" because it doesn't take secret inside info to know that Abbott's name had to have at least COME UP and that he was most likely contacted. He would have been a most obvious choice to take over the reigns of that team given the eleventh hour time frame under which Petersen was fired.

Well, let's hope anyway that Abbott and/or other experienced college coaches were contacted and offered competitive salaries before settling on splitting the position with two guys who have virtually no collegiate coaching experience. I am fairly certain and sincerely hope for the integrity of UCLA track and field that 24-year old Forest Braden was not the first choice of the coaching staff.

From inside information Abbott was not contacted at all so give it up and just accept that our UCLA alums medalled in 2007 Osaka, 2008 Beijing, and 2009 Berlin. We'll be looking way down at you amateurs from the medal stand again at 2011 Daegu and 2012 London where UCLA alums are expected to medal again. Our hated rival is USC, aka as South Central's Olympics/WC Medal Factory. I can't wait for the dual meet this spring. We'll stomp the University of Prophylactics at Jefferson & Vermont.

I talked to Scott Abbott over the weekend and he told me that he did talk to UCLA about the distance job. He wanted the entire distance salary but UCLA countered with $35k. That is a fact.

And nobody cares how medals UCLA got at the WC Meet in Berlin. That info and $1.60 still only gets you one cup of coffee at the Coffee Bean.

I called Scott Abbott this past Friday and he said there was no discussions at all with UCLA and that he is surpised his name came up at all since he is very happy where he is now.

The joke is on you my friend. Of the 32 medals brought home by USATF athletes, 11 were awarded to Californians. Of that 11, 10 medals were awarded to Southern Californians. Of that 10, three went to USC alums, and one to UCLA alums.
