Now, you just blew your cover. As socalcush pointed out, you have no "inside guy" because it doesn't take secret inside info to know that Abbott's name had to have at least COME UP and that he was most likely contacted. He would have been a most obvious choice to take over the reigns of that team given the eleventh hour time frame under which Petersen was fired.
Well, let's hope anyway that Abbott and/or other experienced college coaches were contacted and offered competitive salaries before settling on splitting the position with two guys who have virtually no collegiate coaching experience. I am fairly certain and sincerely hope for the integrity of UCLA track and field that 24-year old Forest Braden was not the first choice of the coaching staff.
