Most impressive: Chelsea Johnson getting silver in the PV
Bolt and Kiprop.
Dwight Philips just won his 4th world title and you got to wait for the woman's 1500 to make your decision? Also, Tyson Gay became the second fastest performer in the 100. I'm sure you are considering them.
I: Tyson Gay's 9.71 in the 100. 3rd fastest legal time ever!
D: manzano's DFL in the 1500.
Most impressive list:
Bolt because he gave it his best
Felix because she's just a joy to watch.
Hardee - He gave it his best although if he had strength to run around the track after he won, he should have used some of that to run the 1500M better.
Most dissapointing: all the other athlets who did not make it to the medal stand. I've never seen a more lethargic perfromances from a bunch yet!
If you even mention a white person for best performance by an American than you just might be a redneck.

******Edit**********
I meant to say Tyson and not Bolt.
It seems like all the other idiots want to do is make it to the finals. No wonder they keep coming up short. They just want to make it to the finals and everyone else just want to win!!!!!!!!!!
Thats because everyone else sucks at their respective events. So making the finals is a a better goal than saying they will win.
Letsrun has an edit feature now? Somebody tell me how so I can go take back all the dumb stuff I've written.

Are you serious!? Yes, he was last...IN THE FINAL! You really think that is a more disappointing perfromance than how Evan Jager, KD, Ryan Brown, and others that didn't make the final? How about the athletes that finished below 12th place? You think their performances were better?
I, for one, would say that the performances if both 4x100 relays were WAY more disappointing. Both have the talent to be LOCKS for the medal stand if they only could learn how to actually hand off the batons correctly. A close second would be the performance of the Men's steeple, but I'm just happy we are finally sending full squads in the event (although a 9:02 is pretty sad).
Most Impressive:
- Dwight Phillips in the men's long jump
- LaShawn Merritt in the men's 400
- Allyson Felix in the women's 200
- Trey Hardee in the decathlon
Most Disappointing:
- Maggie Vessey in the 800
- Shalane Flanagan not even finishing top ten after winning bronze last year in the 10k
- The men's and women's 4x100m relays
- Men's steeplechase. All these guys are MUCH better than their World performances. Truly disappointing.
Impressive: Gay, Felix, Hardee, Merritt
Disappointing: 4 X 100s
Most Impressive American: Probably going to be Allyson after the 4X4 (she would walk away with 3 golds, if the 4X1 girls got the stick around...and it was the person in Allyson's spot that failed).
Most impressive overall: Have to give MAJOR props to Steve Hooker. Serious hamstring problems. Didn't even jump until 19 feet, because he didn't feel his hams could stand more than one good jump, and you could see him grimacing in great pain after that first jump. Jumps twice, walks away with the gold. Amazing. You could argue whether this is the best performance, but toughest is no contest. How many medals would Bolt have with Hooker's hams?
Most disappointing. Oregon distance runners with another o-fer. Actually, not disappointing, its just what they do: Spread all kinds of bullshit, then can't walk the walk.
tyson's run was great...for an american
riley stops has nailed it. Good job.

Very happy for Dwight, what a stud and an inspiration.
I am waiting for the other races, the men's 800 too, in case their is some shocker by the Americans, like Wurth-Thomas winning by ten meters or something ;-)
Hardee is on my short list too, he really stepped up this year.
i really only am aware of the action on the track, so i'm not trying to not acknowledge the field athletes
IMPRESSIVES:
jennifer barringer 6th womens 3kSC, AR 9:12
dathan ritzenhein's 6th place 10k, pr 27:22, 2nd fastest american-born(behind nenow)

all 3 american women making the 1500m final
3 of 4 american men making the 1500m final
3 of 4 american men making the 5000m final
nick symmonds looking strong in 800m heats
DISAPPOINTMENTS:
leo manzano finishing last in 1500m
jeremy wariner getting told by merritt in the 400m final
maggies vessey not making the 800m final
shalane flanagan finishing 14th in the 10k
us men dq-ed in the 4 x 100m, don't make final
us men in 3kSC, need i say more?
Special Mention: i do not follow the field events usually, but because it was on the front page, someone has to recognize Dwight Phillips' gold-winning jump.
BALLS: Christian Cantwell winning the gold by coming up big and coming from behind in the 5th round. BALLS!
CHOKE: US men's 4 x 100m: 0 fer the last two biggies... getting to be a habit.
