The sheer number of flatulent cows on this planet (way beyond how many there naturally should be) are emitting more greenhouse gas than all the cars, SUVs, and trucks on the roads.

Also, allowing vegetation to grow on the otherwise used farmland could wipe $20 trillion off the cost of fighting global warming.

Newsflash: The meat industry creates more greenhouse gas than all transportation!

I read the article, and couldn't help but giggle when looking at their numbers. I would LOVE to see how they came up with those figures.

The link to the research article concluding the $20 trillion dollar savings is here:

I don't know if you have access to the article, but you can email the author (the address is on the link).
I'm sure he'll be willing to answer any questions you have. -
What's even worse is where they are clearcutting rainforest to raise cattle. You lose the CO2 buffer the forest gave you and increase methane/co2 via the cows.
Remember that next time you eat at Mcds! -
Get ready for a heat wave, folks. I'm ordering a huge steak at Outback today.

Gore and the rest of the alarmists can take my meat from my cold, dead hands!

gorebull warning,
How often do you eat meat? Once a day?
What if you cut back to, oh, I don't know, three times a week? Would that be so bad? -
Cut and move on
Cut and move on
Take out trees
Take out wildlife at a rate of species every single day
Take out people who've lived with this for 100,000 years -
Inject a billion burgers worth of beef -
Grain eaters - methane dispensers.
- Bruce Cockburn "If a Tree Falls" -
I would guess gorebull eats hot meat several times per day.

so we should all start eating greens and beans instead?
wouldn't our farts just offset any savings in cow farts?
...oh my god you global warming nuts are too much! -

Three times a week? Hell ya that's bad, I eat meat three times a day!
No meal is complete without either bacon, sausage, steak, pork chops, roasted lamb, or chicken wings. -
exaclty put em in a blender and have a nice meat slurry... on hot days serve slightly chilled
-
Good thing I don't eat beef or pork.

Why do I highly doubt Gore and Tipper are vegans?

they aren't and that's what's so patently annoying about listening to him pontificate about global warming. same with listening to a corpulent michael moore complain about the state of u.s. healthcare. yes, these problems are real, but look in the MIRROR jerks! if you are participating in the most destructive environmental practice, don't expect to be able to have much credibility when you preach about them merits of environmentalism. it's like listening to a serial rapist advocate for women's rights. i know i'm not perfect, but at least i try... i'm vegan, i don't own a car, i try to shop at local farmer's markets and grow a little of my own food. if we would all just make small changes in the way we live, the difference would be profound. cut back on meat consumption by even a third or a half. carpool or take the bus (or bike or run) to work, take advantage of your local growers during the spring, summer, and fall. it's a no-lose scenario... you eat healthier, spend less money, support your local economy, and make a huge difference on your environmental footprint. -

Someone's going to make fun of you for your lifestyle, but let me be the first to congratulate you on what seems like a totally awesome lifestyle (no sarcasm). -

Short term likely yes. A few years back my wife went to a nutritionist and we kept a food "diary" for a few weeks. Results came back we needed to crank up the fiber. So we did. For about two months I could fart the paint off the walls. Beano, etc, didn't help at all. Thankfully I had an office with a door, and there was certainly a disincentive for people to drop by and chat so I was really productive. The pre-run s**t only took about 5 seconds.
After a while my system got used to it, so now it's back to a good dark beer and come onion rings before the paint peels. -
I wasn't sure what to eat for dinner tonight. I've made up my mind after reading this. Looks like it's a porterhouse steak grilled outside over coals. Thanks for helping me decide.

And I'm going to have some BBQ tofu. I guarantee you I'll enjoy my dinner just as much as you enjoy yours. I f*cking love tofu!
