so i am a collegiate runner and coming out of my outdoor track season had a pretty bad tendonitis problem in a foot. after doing the whole resting, cross training, strengthening, nsaid's, ultrasound regimen for a few months, we elected orthotics would be something good to try. the p.t. who suggested it is himself a very good runner who runs in them himself and does not make money off of prescribing them as he doesn't make them, so i wasn't worried that he was just trying to sell me something. but getting off of that tangent, i started wearing them and while they seem to have eliminated the initial injury, both arches of both feet have just been aggravated like crazy. we've adjusted them as necessary for the last several weeks and while i seem to be able to be gradually working my way back into actual training and while running have minimal pain (which is good) the bottoms of both feet just ache like crazy (esp. in the navicular bone area) the other 20-some-odd hours a day that i'm not running. i have never had orthotics before and am unsure of what to expect. is there an adjustment type phase (i've been running in them for about a month) or should everything just feel great?? i would like to be 100% by my xc season. any input would be great!
