USATF Prediction Thread: 800m-10,000m

personally, I feel webb wont make it to worlds since he has yet to show anything in all his major events this year(and last year as well it seems). Since Lagat already has auto's in 1500 a 5k theres no point in putting him in a place for those, and at Hayward, can we really picture anyone besides Symmonds winning?

Is Lagat not running or something? If so how or why? I think I am missing a major point in this discussion.

Not sure if you're joking, but he gets a bye into the 1500 and 5000 at the WCs because he is the defending champ, so he is only running the 800 (and maybe not the final) just to get in some sharpening.

He has a free pass to World's in the 1500 and 5000 after winning in 2007. So for fun he's running the 800 at USAs, and most people seem to think he won't medal.

My bet is that Wheating's calf is still sore and that they hold him out of this championship, let him heal completely, and then do a couple races in Europe. It has already been a long season and he would probably benefit by getting some rest.

Heat 3 is pretty stacked. It might take at least a 3:36 just to move on to finals. I'm hoping Webb shows up in good form. It would be exciting to see him and Fernandez go at it hard. Sounds like bad porn, ha ha.

No Wheating, and Webb actually looked pretty decent in prelims.
