Oh yes, the quote. LOL!!
I think it was something like "Mom, why do you always wait to be dragged by your teeth and crawl on your elbows to get help?" On the way to visit my herblist about my bone spurs, among other ailments...! (I'm over 50 girls)
Ya'know this brings to the fore front of my thoughts of what we are sharing with our younger runners.
I have a question for the contributors of this thread.
Do you think it can handle a deeper message and discussion?
If so, would you be willing to share your own personal life experiences. Relationships...ie, did you experience domestic violence? Food Disorder? (s)? What did you do about it? Are you still suffering? How can we help?
How does running effect your life you if you deal or have dealt with this in your life?
If you think this needs another forum..ie another website..suggestions?
I, personally, have lived through the throes of recovery of the food disorder bulimia. I enjoyed a few year of bliss..(yes) and several more of horrific suffering to get out of it. It's like a hug from an octopus!
I have lived through homelessness due to leaving a violent relationship. No hugs from an octopus..just liquid cement.
Through running I have gained powerful insight for my living today. You are better than your last race.
Even with this insight I have gained through my experience of running, it has not been an easy one. At times, it seemed like a constant track workout. Repeat, repeat...repeat...with little or no recovery.
I hung in and made it through, scarred, but healed and mended.
How many of you experience the same thing?
I ask, because running to me is life. I celebrate, cry, bounce for joy, find answers (and soon forget), meditate, share camaraderie with other enthused runners.
Running is important to me. It makes things right in the world. And, and I'm a praying person...to me pray is an action word, hence running is my prayer....I have often prayed "God help me...God help me get through this run.." LOL!!! "Thank you!" It is my alone time with God.
I would enjoy chatting about experiences with you ladies, perhaps here or someplace else...for other girls/women to listen in and share their experiences...It's more than a run.
Hmm, so what do think?
