Great post. Learn something about the history of music. You might not enjoy his stuff, but he is one of the greatest lyricists of all time and was HUGELY influential to just about everyone in the 60's. Lennon AND Hendrix worshiped him. Think you know more than they did?
Oh boy, the pimply tool tries to troll on letsrun.
Cool dude!
His voice certainly leaves a lot wanting...specifically, earplugs.
Brilliant songwriter though.
Seems like only Rolling Stone rates him highly. All I ever see is you guys bitching about how terrible he is.
Whose your favorite? I bet it's Metallica or Nickelback or Kanye West?
His songwriting skills have proven to last through time. His work has many hits in every single decade since the 60's. The latest was Garth Brooks, who did a cover; "to make you feel my love." A lot of people have done their best work covering Dylan songs.
Is there anyone even close that has that impressive of a resume?
Honestly, I think his voice is amazing. It fits the type of writer he is. If you're looking for a whitewashed, clean-sounding voice, go listen to Britney Spears or something. His voice is gritty and honest. I'd take it any day over the auto-tune shit people listen to now.

I agree. He isn't Whitney Houston, but his voice is amazing for his genre.

Don't you have to rate him higher, since some of the replies have been pretty haughty?
3/10

Not when I saw this thread right next to his empty Beatles thread on the list. Troll FAIL.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny. Still, he seems to have gotten some pretty irked responses on this thread.
For sure 0/10 on the Beatles thread, but I'm gonna hold on my 3/10 for this one, although the replies do seem to be thinning out.
Well, if he's a troll let me take up the fight.
Bob Dylan really is garbage. He is no longer relevant. Unfortunately, old wash-ups and has-beens that can't move on in time think they know exactly what "real" music is and they have the money to push that idea on people in their top 100 lists.
What the f*** is up with white people and being nostalgic (and I am white). An entire culture of wallowing in the past ... facebook is the worst offender. Must I really bear the burden of classic rock and 60's music greatness all my life? Do you people ever move on? Ok, we know you ruled the 60's. You did a lot of drugs and rebelled. Great, nobody gives a damn what you did as a teenager.
I am being 100% honest when I say that Soulja Boy's "Turn my swag on" blows anything Dylan did out of the water. It sure as hell brings a club down better than anything Dylan ever did and is definitely more relevant to today. It's brilliant. It removes all the garbage pseudo-content and uses one ultra catchy hook. The way women dance it is out of control.
Some people are stuck thinking that music needs to have songs with lyrics that are full of content, allegory, quadruple meanings. WHY? If I want to be beat over the head with triple meanings I'll read The Alchemist. I don't want to hear some piece of poetry rattled off out of key to a rancidly played harmonica. GTFO with that.
Go drink a microbrew and tell everyone of your travels and what good music sounds like - nobody gives a damn! Thank goodness I never hang out with runners in public.
Jakob Dylan > Bob Dylan
post of the day!
nick drake > bob dylan
your opinion is widely held and therefore probably false
my mother inlaw always says he sucks
those early song had great words
the religious albums were rockin [mick taylor mark knopler, Berry Beckett on piano
even Dylan admits he can't write those songs anymore
Admittedly today he's like some old retarded guy
don't you think it's more complex then that he is just overated ?
musicans usually get dylan

Nick Drake is very good mixed with beer !
Bob was a millionaire way back. Sold out early and has been coasting for the last thirty years. The boomers still love him and there are always lots of young girls at stage front of his shows. Who can figure that???
I read he used to be a 4:30 guy.
