big risk if so. opening outdoors with a 5K in that kind of field? german doesn't have a history of strong finishes in a field that has him outclassed/outfitnessed. if he were to take a substantial beating how would that bode for his head come ncaa's?
i doubt he'll race.

As many athletes have entered multiple events ( Examples: Centro-1500 meters, 5000 meters; Puskedra 5000 meters, 10000 meters; Wheating 800 meters, 1500 meters), they will need to declare which event(s) they will run.
It looks like there will be three sections of the 5000 meter race. Until this is all sorted out- or even if they show up (Fernandez?)- a real guessing game.

Earlier I said German will not run. It's sounding more and more like he will indeed toe the line, though. I'll wait to see if his name's on the heat sheet before making an outrageous prediction.

And I know Chelanga is entered in the 5k, but does anyone think he'll actually run so soon after that 10k at Cal? My guess is no.

he shouldn't have anything competitive again until NCAA's, he's strong, why not?
A couple friends of mine went to high school with German. Apparently one of them talked to Riverbank's track coach, who was told by German that he's planning to run the 5k. So while it's not pure speculation I admit I'm a few people removed. According to his Facebook, he'll at least be there. Doesn't necessarily mean he's planning to race, though.

No. What I'm wondering is did all of these runners actually enter the 5k, or did Stanford just add their names to the list.
That is amazing field - but just can't imagine all those guys running on the track at the same time. They might have to do waterfall starts at the starting line, another one at 150 meters, another at 300 meters and maybe another at 350 meters ... man that is going to be crazy. I hope they put same speed guys with each other otherwise going to look like the Pamplono Running of the Bulls. CRAZY!!! Really should consider two heats maybe.
