I was wondering if anyone can help! I am doing some research on world records set on cinder tracks and wanted to look at how they compare with performances on synthetic tracks.
In all the progression lists I have, it doesn't state which WR's were set on cinders as opposed to synthetic. E.G. I know that Clarke's 10k WR in 27:39.4 was run on cinders, but what about his 13:16.6 5000m?
I have chatted with various people and read very wide-ranging accounts about conversion times from one to the other. I think I am right in concluding that it very much depends on the state of the cinder track and that this used to vary quite considerably!?
I also wanted to find out more about the "changes" (improvements) that took place in the synthetic tracks around the mid '90's.
If anyone can help or recommend and good web sites, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
