"Junior Indoor Mile"
Junior = Still developing
Indoor = Fewer people run it in peak condition, if they run in at all
Mile = Fewer people run it, period
On the other hand, this past summer Rupp ran the fastest 10,000m ever run by an American in the Olympics. Perhaps German will get there some day, but he definitely isn't there yet.
The "junior" record for the 10,000 is pratically a minute faster than Rupp has ever run. So it seems Rupp has more devoloping to do than German and less time to do it. And German is far from peak condition.
you're right, that was inconsiderate, i am sorry.
nice run by ulrey as well
Can German win Jr. Worlds for cross country?

Eh, we know the guy wasn't really a "junior" when he set the jr. 10k record, so relax. Stop hating and Rupp and stop licking German's balls. Lets hope for both to keep improving and make a mark on the world scene.
This dude pretty much spells out how dumb letsrun is and how knowledgable he is. Mr. banned, you have a future, just not in anything that requires you to think.

I know letsrun just loves guys like GF, but the kid isn't going to win, let alone run sub 4:00. He is extremely talented, but talent will only take you so far. Lack of training and lack of intelligent training will slow times down.

Ok, I will stop licking German's balls immediately. And yes, "we" I mean you know know Samuel Wanjiru was not really a junior. It's just that the IAAF did not have the inside information that you did.

One think to bear in mind... in most parts of the world, you most likely never get to see an indoor track until you are no longer a junior. Which is probably the reason the IAAF don't recognise Junior Indoor records.
So if most of the top runners from east africa never run indoors as a junior, then the junior indoor mile is going to be a weaker record than most of the junior outdoor records.
That's not to take anything away from German... great run. But we shouldn't be too quick to start any runner X > runner Y type predictions based on this time.

He was an exchange student in Japan. I'm fairly certain they take non-citizen resident records very seriously.
where are the official results validating this 3 56.x mark??!??!?
Lets not forget that Geoffrey Rono was not a junior by any means. Fantastic time for Fernandez. He is the future of American distance running.....
The times from this meet should appear in the IAAF 2009 top list for the indoor mile in a few days:
If we compare with 2008, a 3:56.x could remain at the top end of the list for a while.

by the time hes done, yes german will be better than kennedy...hes 18 for god sakes
kennedy won ncaa cross as a 18 yr. old freshman...
Why not be happy that the USA has another fantastic talent to cheer on in the coming years?
Stop bringing Kennedy, Pre , Shorter etc into the conversation. That was yesterday....live for today.

...ah yeah and he tanked it at NCAA's bcause he got tripped....finish the race.
Nice run today tho
Is there any video of the race?
I was going to make several cogent and pertinent points here, but ....ah...I'll decided to skip it.

What an odd statement. I was at the NCAA cross championships back in November, and before GF fell went down and out, he was already a long, long ways behind Rupp. Maybe better in the 1500, mile, and possibly 3K, but he still has to prove himself in the 5 & 10.
P.S. Have you calmed down yet?
Isn't he Mexican?
