Tim is not your friend. Tell him since you are not fast enough to buy his magnet you probably aren't fast enough to wear the shoes he sells. Tell him you are taking your business elsewhere.
And, please, forget about the magnet/sticker. Be concerned about what you do, not what you want people to think you do.
Do you want to put the sticker on? If yes, then put it on.
Did you work hard and enjoy yourself? Put the sticker on.
Did you slack off and enjoy yourself? Put the sticker on.
Did you work hard and not enjoy yourself? Put the sticker on.

Not everyone who wears a Giants jersey was a great football player, not everyone who wears an NBA sweatshirt is a great basketball player.
Track needs more fans that aren't based on being better than other fans. Do what you want. Advertise your love of the sport.

Don't be a curmudgeon.
You want dickweed? You got it:
It must refer to the size of his labia.

I saw an Audi TT in Cleveland last week that said 10K Racer for the vanity plate. How fast of a 10K would you have to run to be allowed to have that plate?
That must have been Tegenkamp's car.
yes. those stickers are for people like you anyways

Put the sticker on and take the opportunity to tell everyone who asks about it about our great sport. It seems like you have a good grasp on your accomplishment. You ran a marathon and finished. 4 hours is not fast so you don't have to claim athletic superiority when you tell people you ran a marathon.
The problem is the 4 hour guy who buys the sticker so he can brag about how great he is. That's just shallow.
I ran a marathon in 1969 long before running became cool! It was also before stickers were invented! ðŸƒðŸ»
I've never heard of this rule. The distance 26.2 from start to finish is the same for first place, last place and everyone in between. It doesn't matterm if you ran/walked it in 2:30 or 6:00. Besides, if you really want a sticker, you can purchase online.
That is slow as crap, but at least it was clean, unlike this forums moderator.
Well OP, it's been 8 years. What did you decide? I think the stickers are cool, but most of the guys in my running club also have them on their cars. We each wrote our respective marathon PR time on our sticker with a Sharpie. I'm well under 4:00, but not everyone in the club has broken 4:00 yet. New PR, new sticker! Can't wait.
I see Shorter around town in Boulder once in a while. No sticker, no vanity plate, no Yale decal in the window of his 1996 Chrysler Town & Country van.
Course it could be a guy pretending to be him.

i am confusion why is this thread hot right now?
Yes. If your ran the entire marathon then you deserve the magnet. I have coached people who tried hard just to run the 26.2 miles. My pet peave is when people walk it. Then you don’t deserve it. I have coached collegately and coach post collegiate runners now with several all Americans and I have never heard of that unwritten rule.
This is a 10/10. I love it.
I dropped out. I have a 13.1 and two 5K stickers on the car, sort of overlapping so you'll add them up and see that I went just over 19.
