The 800m and 1500m are by far my best events and ultimately the ones that I want to focus my attention on. However, it's likely that I will be in the top 5 on my collegiate XC team and will thus be crutial to the success of my team. My question is what can I do to maintain the strength and speed necessary to run a fast 800m and mile once the indoor season rolls around, while spending much of my year training for 8k and 10k XC races? I don't want to sacrifice my leg speed and upper body strength training for really long races, but I also don't want to let my team down.
