I think I've figured out why people don't like people of African descent (Lagat, Meb, Abdi) racing as Americans/breaking American records. It doesn't have to do with skin color, rather the talent that people of African descent tend to have. No one can doubt that these people are perhaps genetically predisposed to running.
My point is that yes, they are talented, but are they any more talented than guys like Ryan Hall, who were born and raised in America, yet have run 2:06 for the marathon? Obviously, Hall is genetically predisposed to running fast times. I am certain that Hall has way more talent than Joe Kip-Shmo over in Kenya, yet if a Kenyan comes to America and starts breaking our records, this message board is up in arms. For this reason, we need to start tolerating Africans running and winning as Americans.
Spark notes: Africans are talented, but so are Americans (case in point, Hall). Therefore, all records must be held in equal status.
Sorry I kind of suck at writing coherent posts.
