What kind of diet supports healthy, strong, toned abs?
The obvious is to stay away from junk food and to balance your carbs and protein, but are there any other key food groups that would supplement?

Best diet for good abs is one in which total calories burned exceeds total calories consumed.
1. You cannot spot reduce fat anywhere on your body.
2. If you have fat around your stomach, you're going to have to burn more calories than you take in. Good rule of thumb is weight x 15 = total amount needed to stay at current weitht. This allow you to lose fat all over you body since you cannot spot reduce. Genetics tell where you lose the fat first. And last.
3. Abs are muscle. If you want muscles, you exercise that muscle. In other words, you do sit ups, crunches, etc.
4. All the ab work in the world isn't going to give you nice abs if it's covered in fat.
5. Ab work + fat loss = 6 pack.
