I am really hoping Renato Canovo can provide some clarification, however, there are so many knowledgable people on this site surely i will learn something.
1. The 800m is ATP-PC dependant, Lactate dependant and Aerobically dependant.
What proportions of each have people found?
2. If i look from the final race of the season backwards, i see the peak is preceded by the base period. I assume specificity of activity, so activities in the base are similar in nature to the activities in the peak, they just vary in intensity and volume.
What is the initial base element to develop along this process from base to peak. Where do we start?
3. Everyone seems excited about the physiological energy side of the 800m, yet very few talk about the mechanical efficiency side of it. One reknowned MD coach in my country came back to me after i queried him on it with 'there is no evidence mechanical efficiency aids performance'
How important is this mechanical efficiency side in peoples eyes?
4. I've noticed the 800m is quite an anaerobic event in the end and i also noticed Arthur Lydiard has a hill training phase in his program to develop this side of the event.
Do 800m runners generally do hill training and if so do they do it in the manner prescribed by Lydiard?
thankyou
