I don't doubt that. Look at all the Olympic caliber marathoners in that 1984 race alone that Porter beat or ran just behind... Lopes, Jones, Treacy, DeCastella. All of them about 2:08 or better, no? But I had always heard that Porter hated long runs, absolutely abhorred the two-hour run in training?
