Why on earth do people live in places like this

riigghhtttt....
Seriously. I grew up in MN. I was actually camping in the northwoods during the coldest week in MN history (-60F, not far from where we were). I've done plenty of running in the negative teens and it never bothered me. Downhill ski racing was another story: nothing but spandex, minimal body heat from exercise, tons of wind from the speed...now that sucked.
I cannot believe people actually thing he's serious. I thought it was funny, the way he sarcastically criticized people in warm climates for complaining about 45 degree weather while it's -10 in the midwest, AND sarcastically criticized people for starting threads about how cold it is in their town.

I got the irony. My point was that it's not really that ridiculous.

Finally someone gets it.
I can't believe we got to page 2 without someone mentioning the true cause of this cold snap. Global Warming!

No it wasn't.
it wasn't irony, it was stupidity

I agree that runners in the South (and people in general) all go nuts and bundle up when the temperature dips below 70 degrees (especially in Texas), but all you Yankees start crying like little bitches at the thought of knocking out a run in 95 degrees/90% humidity...don't lie!
You'll never hear me bitching about hot humid weather.
Hell I grew up in a town with 4 chemical plants, a fiberglass plant and polluted assed Lake Erie so no bitching about weather or conditions is allowed there. Oh yeah, it's in the middle of the snow belt too. My preference would be hot weather, but all extremes help you to be tougher unless you are busy whining.
Upon moving from CT to CA for grad school, I found it crazy that people would be all bundled up as soon as the temps got down to th 60s. We are talking gloves hats winter jackets! I would be running in short and a t-shirt and they would look at me like I had 2 heads. Now after being in SoCal for about 10 years I start to get cold when it is in the 60s. I even put on a sweatshirt if my house is below 68. You do get used to it being nice all the time. On the other side of things, I still hold practice at 6pm in August when it is 110 outside. I just give my guys a few water stops and they can do a 10 miler with no problem. It is not unusual for it to be 100 degrees at 8pm when we are finishing. There is no humidity here though. If the humidity gets to 30 percent people get really uncomfortable. It is very common for the humidity to be in the low 10s during the winter.
You must live in the valley or downtown LA? When I lived in Santa Monica, I found it to be chilly much of the winter and spring and don't ever remember it getting over 100 and rarely over 85 any time of the year. I remember doing quite a few morning and evening runs when it was in the 40s outside.
I am in the IE
Oh did we all just find out there are 2 Americas ? Southern California and the ROA (rest of America).
To the poor slobs in the ROA:
Whatever you do stay where you are or if you move, move to another part of ROA. We don't want you living here in Southern California. You can visit, but be sure to go home to ROA as soon as you spend the tourist dollars.
What's this? No one from the East Coast has used the words, "boo hoo" yet? Followed by Go Patriots..or go New York?
Northern California is a better place to live than Southern California. The weather is essentially just as good, the people are less superficial, and there is more to do up here!
I would not want to live in Los Angeles. It is an overcrowded dump.
Does Frisco, Eureka matter to anyone. There's only Southern California and ROA. That's it. We want you to stay put in ROA.
Run in Missouri... we got it all. Below 0 in the winter and above 100 in the summer (and oh the humidity). Woke up this morning, 9 degrees. Come Monday, it is supposed to be near 60, only to go back down into the 30s the middle of next week. I once ran a 5K in December in which the temperature dropped 30 degrees during the race.
You never pack away your summer clothes in Old MO.
