I've been out with a hamstring tendon injury for a while, and I've been struggling to find a decent mode of exercise that doesn't aggravate the condition. Tried pool running, but that pulled on the tendon a bit too much. Regular running is obviously out for a while. However, in an act of desperation, I tried running in place for about 20 minutes this morning, and it felt pretty good. My calves/lower legs felt like they got a normal workout, and my quads felt pretty good too. Because I wasn't moving forward, the hamstrings weren't used much, and the injured area wasn't affected. Seems like a reasonably good way to get some running-specific exercise for a few leg muscle groups. However, I've never done this for an extended period. Am I just grasping at straws here? Has anyone done this for more than a couple of consecutive days and had good results? Will the running-in-place form place me at risk for some other really stupid injury? Thanks.
