Merry Christmas to everyone!
I had a very slothful running week. That dang knitting project took until Friday to complete and I felt like I needed every spare minute to finish it, so my runs were all on the short (5-9 mi) side. Seriously I spent 7 hours on Friday working on it!
Today, however, I got to run in the rain and MUD on the trails with a good friend of mine. We only get run together very occasionally, so it was a real treat. He really inspires me to run an honest pace and we pushed up all the big hills (1/2 mi to 1 mi long) and had a great 16 mile run. I was tired going up those hills, but it felt good to push. (I'm pretty competitive going up them & I was going to be damned if he lost me on any of them! I even made him hurt, too! ;-D) If I could only get in this kind of run every two weeks or so, I'd be in much better shape come February. Since he runs both the sprints and the marathon =:-0, I'm picking his brain for ideas to increase my leg speed.
Anyway, despite the rain and cold, it was a very fun and rewarding sploshing through the mud run. I *still* don't have trail shoes, so now my new "road" shoes are very muddy. Maybe I can buy myself a pair of shoes for Christmas? It's hella dangerous running muddy trails in Asics!! ;-)
Have a great week everyone!
