Even pace for 59:42
14:09 5k
28:18 10k
42:27 15k
45:32 10 mile
56:36 20k
59:42 ½ marathon

You know what my point is. A 45:33 ENROUTE is an incredible split.
Dude, it's even pace.
Great, so it was an evenly split race for a guy who dropped a sub-one hour half? Thanks for mastering the obvious. Doesn't make it any less incredible for a ten-mile effort in and of itself. And again, what is the American record for ten miles?
Oh, and by the way, I just have to know, were you somewhat of a prodigy and completed calc and diff eq before your senior year of high school and scored in at least the 99th percentile on your SAT math portion? In other words, were you as good at math as you were as a runner? I'm guessing not.

Gosh golly, you too, thanks. I was writing my previous reply while you guys posted by the way, so I didn't see the influx of repetitive emails.

Yeah, it's virtually a 4:33+ per mile pace the entire way. So what. That wasn't my point. Thanks for devoting the time though.
Sagarin on tilt, from your precious posts we already knew you were a math prodigy, that's why your line of reasoning is so baffling.
What's so unbelievable about a guy who hits a ten mile split that is exactly even paced during a half-marathon? Nothing (beside the mathematical improbability of coming so close.)
edit: "previous" posts.

Precious was better and freudian. You should have left it alone for the good humor.

Well, it's obvious that you thought you were making a point I wasn't aware of, when it should have been obvious TO YOU what my point was by the very fact that I felt the need to point out that the 15k split was faster than Williams' 15k record. All of the splits were incredible. It was a remarkable run. But it's obvious that, on that day, he could have dropped an even faster 10 mile, on the order of a sub-45 maybe? Does anyone know what the current 10-mile reocrd is?
I can't imagine what other point I'd be making?
Every split, every step of that run ... absolutely delicious! Yum yum! Sagarin you're making me hungry. Is that your intention?
This is getting tedious and trite now. Thanks again George.

What percentile did you score in the research section of the SAT?
http://www.arrs.net/AL_R10M2.htmGod, not you too. It wasn't obvious that I was trying to get a particular someone else to cough it up for the effect, eh?
Okay boys... sorry I even started this. Simmer down now.
The guy that wrote this article is also part of the problem with US distance running. If our press can't even get the best US accomplishments right then what is the point. Ryan Hall winning the trials is not a world beating event, but Webb running a 3:46 certainly is.
This guy is a fool.
I know the guy and he's not a fool at all, but he does work for Running USA and that's who he's shilling for and that explains this list.
I can see it both ways. The credibility of the list is arguable for sure, but, then again, all of those performances were noteworthy and the caveat was clearly elucidated as the mile being a non-distance event. The way I look at it -- what were the most motivating performances for our youngsters? Any publicity for distance running is good publicity, though the mile and the marathon are the most ubiquitously known events among the public, and, as such, I would have personally included Webb's mile near the top.
I feel like Lagat's indoor 3k record should have been worth a mention. 7:32 at Birmingham. A good time by anyone's standards (kenyan or otherwise). Lowers existing record by 7 seconds, and was set in a kicker's race if i recall correctly. lagat sat back til the last lap. Makes him top 5 all-time indoors.
