hey guys. i am a college student and have some questions about french for anyone who has any experience.
first, some background. i am majoring in classics and latin, and this past semester decided that i wanted to pursue an actual spoken language (unlike ancient greek and latin). i initially wanted to try french, but my dad talked me out of it, saying it was difficult and would be very challenging. i took italian instead (it was my second choice) and am doing very well in it. having never spoken a foreign language before, i've found that i enjoy it very much, and with the appropriate work put in do very well.
well now i have an opening in my schedule for the spring, and although i plan to continue studying italian, i was thinking of also adding a french class.
i'm certainly not looking for an easy class, i will pursue this with the same attitude as with italian. neither are for my major, i am taking them purely for academic and personal curiosity.
so i suppose my question is this: if i can handle advanced latin and greek, and just this past semester have found that i love and am capable of handling introductory italian, should i be able to handle introductory french?
any input would be very much appreciated.
thanks so much.
