The subject about says everything. After not running for a few months, and running inconsistently for some time before that, I started again with the intention of doing mostly slow mileage, running a marathon (on 55ish mpw), and then starting more structured training.
It only took me a few weeks before I was running 20 mpw comfortably, and I gradually raised that to 30. I was planning to not raise mileage until I felt strong at the current mileage, since I wasn't in any hurry and trying to do too much too quickly had derailed me before. That was 2 months ago, and since then I've been tired, often slogging at barely a jog, and sometimes unable to pick up the pace from more than a shuffle. I'd just ignore it but I feel a bit the way I did before I found out I had mono several years ago, and I don't want another situation like that.
My iron levels are normal-high. I work full time but it's not high stress. I try to get enough sleep, but often wake up feeling unrested. I really don't know the best thing to do- put any racing plans on hold, keep running 20-30 mpw and taking frequent rest days and try to get fit enough that I don't jog all the time? Up the mileage despite the tiredness? Take time completely off (if I can't maintain 20 mpw jogging though, I don't know how I'll ever start running again at all)?
