it's doing all that stuff during the 10k at stanford when he was supposedly tempoing with Goucher. No, I'm not a fan of those types of things.
Yeah, "all that stuff" like winning and setting domestic collegiate records gets tiresome.
Word.

ah, I didn't say I hated him, I said I hated actions like the one he's doing. Two very different things. And I'm missing the relevance of me having any spare time? What does that have to do with anything? And honestly, he's flashing the peace sign in the middle of a national qualifying race, do I need to know what else is going on in the photo? We get it, he's head and shoulders above the rest of the competition in the region. Does he need to flaunt it?
How do you know that's the peace sign? Were you standing next to the person who got signed?
Having 2 fingers up can also stand for the #2, which seems more probable than flashing 'peace'
On second look, that is definitely NOT the peace sign, his hand is facing the wrong way.
That's the problem with you kids today, you don't even know what peace is.
I've seen plenty of people (notably in the hip-hop industry) flash the peace sign "backwards". In the UK, that means the same as flipping the bird.
Rupp was displaying the best possible position the Ducks can take at NCAA since the Wisconsin Badgers are a lock to win it.
I am a bit embarassed myself coming from the Midwest and being an Oregon Alum. Most people that have never lived on the west coast think it is all about glitz and arrogance, so when a guy like Rupp races and his personality comes out it is taken as arrogance...so when he puts two fingers in the air it must be b/c he was flashing a peace sign. He was in the middle of a race and couldn't possibly be concerned about what was going on in the race, right?
Ironically, this shows that all his attention was dedicated to simply running. If you forgot about the laps you were really concentrating on the racing portion and not the crowd. So this completely contradicts the post that Rupp was not even trying. If Pre, Marc Davis, or someone else did something that resembled brashness people would say about time. If Rupp does it that it is unacceptable. I would say lighten up a bit.

Rather, you spaced out.
was he prancing around again?
So am I to understand from your "name" that you have a problem with Rupp because he should be doing better than 1st?
To the other guy who laid down that moronic post about not paying attention, please don't use mental wattage and idiocy in the same sentence. It makes you look fat.
What is WITH you? He was obviously amidst a self-deprecating "I'M NUMBER TWO! I'M NUMBER TWO!" chant. Classy move if you ask me.
clearly he was thinkin arbys.
Sure, Rupp does his best.
Doesn't mean he insn't a jackass though.

We wouldn't generally want to do this, but we thought we would clear the air since we had the video clip...

HAHAHAHAH its great to make people eat their words. thanks for posting that video.
agreed. I am so glad someone had a video of that.
I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could find anything "arrogant" about Rupp in the photo that is the basis for this thread. He's running in a small close pack and clearly trying. And what he is flashing is "not the peace sign" by any stretch of the imagination. And if is was...so what anyway?
Imagine a universe in which some of you actually had REAL STUFF to worry about.
