is it ok to take a week fully off between the cross country and indoor track seasons?
is it ok to take a week fully off between the cross country and indoor track seasons?
yes
yea its actually good... i take a week completely off then i take a week of biking then im back into it.
dick, but if you take a week off before indoor, you might as well quit. at the very least, make up for your missed mileage in the next week. i'm glad i'm not your coach or parent, i would be ashamed.
We take two off at the conclusion of the Cross season in November and at the end of the track season in April/May.
So by taking a week fully off, do you mean only run like 60-mile weeks?
i think it depends on who you are, everyone is different. after xc i will take one week off in which the first three days i do not run a step, then on the 4th and 6th days i run 2 miles easy, the 5th and 7th days i also do not run. then that next week i run about 40 miles and build back to about 95 a week within about 7 to 8 weeks after my break, just experiment a little and see what works best for you. i only take 1 week off after xc season but i take 2 weeks off like this after track before i start summer training.
I know for a fact that everyone on the colorado team takes two weeks off after xc and outdoors. So for that guy that said your glad you dont coach him, thats probably a good thing because he would probably burn himself out running for you. I also know that the gouchers took a week off after the USA track championships and look how they did at worlds, granted adam didnt medal but kara did.
We always took the Thanksgiving week off in high school.
