After much lost mail and condescending attitude from the USPS when inquiring about such lost mail, I'm ready to leave the system. For years, I have claimed that the laws monopolizing the daily door to door mail service for the government exist because a privatized mail industry would force the USPS into bankruptcy very quickly. My ENTIRE family insisted I was wrong. Yesterday, I started reading Capitalism and Freedom, and my opinions completely crystallized when I found out that Milton Friedman directly opposed the government postal system as well.
With the advent of online bill pay, tax e-filing, direct deposit and email, I never send or receive anything useful by mail. It's extremely wasteful for the government to endlessly feed me junk mail. Now I want to do something about it.
Is it possible to completely stop receiving mail? If I remove my mail box or seal it, should I expect to meet Wilford Brimley?
