I'm going w/ Kanye. He is more lyrically strong and a lot of his songs have a good message. Fiddy just seems to mumble a lot.

Oprah or Carlos Mencia. Who's a better distance runner?
The both suck, I say 50 cent sucks less.
Neither, rap is usually very annoying.
oprah did run the ny marathon didn't she.
Kanye, at least the guy has some sort of message. Kanye has songs with a message, some sort of conscience, and changes his style.
50 is just get rich by any means necessary. All of his raps sound the same, they're all about the same stuff.
They both suck. Phillip Anselmo and Henry Rollins could kill both of them, and their posses too.
This is kind of like the death or taxes question right? Which one do you like more?
Uhh...that seems like a pretty easy question...Taxes. They don't kill me.
Who the f*** gives a shit? They both suck, they have no real talent, comparing rap to music is like comparing racewalking to running.
Kanye typically blames others for his issues. They both should pull out some guns and kill each other...like two pack of sugar and that other fat f*** that got shot. Sometimes you gotta thin the herd.
Compare this, rap going away would be like farting in the your car with the windows rolled up and heater going full blast...they both are substance less shit that really stinks, but no one really gets it but you!!
They both desperately suck. 50 Cent sucks a bit more.
It's sort of like comparing apples and oranges. 50 is a gangsta rapper and Kanye is more along the lines of Will Smith, but slightly more edgy. They both have over-inflated egos and make a scene when they don't get their way. That's about the only thing they have in common.
Although I'm more partial to 50 cent's production, his lyrics are tired. Gangsta rap as a whole is starting to become more and more irrelevant. Back in the early 90s, white suburban kids wanted to hear about what gang life was like in the ghettos of America because it was new, it was fresh and they knew very little about it. But now, it's just an over-used concept.
What's even more over-used is the "rags to riches" theme that most gangsta rappers use in their second, third, etc. albums. Yeah, we all know you drive a Range Rover and we all know you throw money at strippers like it doesn't mean anything.
Lyrically, hip-hop needs some rejuvination and I think Kanye does a good job of that. Pre-Encore Eminem did a good job of that too. His rhymes were almost cartoon like and quite humorous. Even his last album, which wasn't very good, still retained some of these components and he even went so far as to include a politically charged song in there. Outkast can be tossed into the mix as well.
So in short: Lyrical Content - Kanye Production - 50 Cent
Although artists like Kanye and Common are the few exceptions right now, I have to agree with Nas for the most part in that hip-hop is dead.
Production and lyrically wise, Curtis is 50's worst album to date. I think that all of his albums have gotten progresivly worse, since the unreleased Power of a Dollar.
Kanye on the other hand has shown great consistency across the board. All of his albums are on par.
The thing I like most about kanye is that you can listen to his albums from start to finish. His lyrics are more personal and I think his music has more cross-over appeal with his soulfoul throwback production style. Hence, him outselling 50.

Agreed, Kanye's album is far from bad. It's not entertaining in a series of skits, and the songs aren't purposefully catchy, as if to say, here's my new hit song...
Sorry I can't answer your question. I have never listened to either one.
Dear God, for once in my life, please give me the power of a moderator.
[DELETE THREAD]
Why should the thread be deleted? There are lots of random threads on here that have nothing to do with running?
Music tastes are personal. If you don't like it, then don't read the thread.

Come on man. You gotta admit, this is bad even for letsrun. I see no value whatsoever. Flush it. Oh hear me petty gods of moderation and strife.
Since Big L died, I don't care about rap anymore...
ya'll sound like a bunch of old white dudes analyzing stock. "Well the content of his album is on par across the board vs. a tired overprojected image that fails to reconvince listeners of why they initially listened to the album"
Seriously, we put up with threads about all sorts of rock music. But oh no, rap? I hate that, delete this thread pronot, stat. The gangsta rap image is overplayed, this threads been here to long it's overstayed, it's welcome. Now shelf em.
Like I wouldn't weigh in on my own album, I think ya'll need to try and get out some. This new one's the greatest thing running, it's so cunning. Not like that 50 hack, is that a new album or just the playback? Ya'll so slow, I'm to the front of th pack!
