Good for Josh. I actually have been watching his video blog. He's been working hard. And he deserves some success. It seems the last few years havent been easy for him. Good luck at the Trials Josh. I'll be there

i have to laugh at all you guys that make fun of his looks, accomplishments, etc. you would jump at the chance to get what he has! in all likelihood, 80% of you will never run under 2.30 for a marathon, be a coverboy for powerbar, or anything else of significance when compared to cox. it's textbook jealousy that you little squirts constantly show. quite an interesting human behaviour observation.
of course you are right.
You don't deserve respect. You earn it.
From the website results info, it looks like he jogged the first 10 or 12 miles at 6 pace and then hammered in at 4:50 pace. Pretty good MP workout.
Is the guy on the left Paul Tergat?

Looking at the carpet at the start in this photo looks like a disaster waiting to happen.
Cox said. "I'm very thankful for the gifts God has given me. I'm not the owner of the gifts, just the bearer."
Definitely a Kathie Griffin fan.
There was apparently no need for an elite corral.
I'm not positive, but I believe that the second-place finisher, Chuck Engle, ran a PR (a low 2:31). A bit surprising, considering that the guy has run hundreds of marathons already (I think that's accurate; he ran 50 of them last year) and is at least 36 years old. I know that he has a reputation for somehow finding marathons that can be won in over two-and-a-half hours. I wonder if he knew that Josh would be there.
fyi, matty

If he can run 2:19 on his own easily, he might well be top 10. He won by 12 minutes. He was 7th in 04.
Interesting that the article says Josh ran 2:20:54 (an OTQ B standard).

The results indicate he ran 2:19:29 (an OTQ A standard).

If you just look at Cox's splits, it seems that way. But, interestingly enough, all the top runners (except Cox) were well over 6:00 pace at 12 miles, and then finished well below 6:00 pace. Cox was 4+ minutes ahead at 12, and 12 at the finish. Doesn't look like he really hammered relative to the other guys. Still, an impressive performance.

In the results they have splits at 12 and 19 miles, why would they put mats at 12 and 19? 13.1 and 20 miles seem like more likely spots.
Those splits cannot be for 12 miles. Perhaps 13.1 miles.
Tough course at USAF marathon, Dayton, Ohio?
Yeh, those airport runways are usually pretty hilly.
Goddammit Josh, you look like a chick.
I worked there this summer, there are plenty of hills on the base and in the area around it as well. The runways are at the bottom of a large hill, it's a good climb to get to the top of the base.
