Perhaps he thinks it´s better for his future development to take on the world´s elite runners instead of focusing on some pseudo-racing garbage like NCAA XC nats.
Pseudo racing garbage? The Ncaa cross country system is one of the deepest and most respected races for young athletes in the world. A race that is that difficult to win is not garbage and takes a special athlete on a special day. Every top American goes through this system and respects it. US athletes know they must succeed on this level before they develop. Just look at Kennedy or Ritz. They all treated these races with the utmost respect when they were in college and knew they were never a lock. To say the NCAA cross country sytem is garbage just because it is not a world class race is stupid and ignorant. Why else would foreigners come and run here from all over the place.
