The D-Rays have seemingly had the Yanks' number for quite a while now. Didn't the D-Rays sweep the season series with the Yanks not long ago? The O's seem to cause the Yanks fits, too.
The Yankees are a bunch of whiney overpaid millionaires first, baseball players second.

shut up oatbag
hey bronx bummer, do you play for the yankees or are you a part owner or something? You said "every time WE get close" Who is the we you speak of?
BTW, the Yanks shot their wad winning those three games, now it's over, back to six with 25 to go.
because the yankees are the root of all evil
Most of the Yankees are talented players who work hard and, for the most part, are clean (except Giambi, of course).
But Yankees fans are a bunch of entitled whiners. Many of them are fans because they want to be associated with a winning team.
And heir owner is a convicted felon. Steinbrenner made illegal campaign contributions to Nixon. Look it up.
There are many reasons why I despise the Yankees, but those to are the biggest.

Giambi is not the only Yankee that is dirty, i'd put Clemens on that list along with A-rod (Canseco is gonna out him in his new book).
Yes, I forgot about Clemens.

Whoops! It looks like Andy Pettite was on the affadavit too.
The Yankees just don't have the team chemistry they used to.....
It looks as if the Yankees will lose again today to Seattle. To top it off, Phillips broke his wrist and is out for the season. The ship is sinking.
don't worry, the Angels will eliminate them in the 1st round of the playoffs like they always do.
arod= clean....f******
It's baseball. Pitching means everything and the Yankees staff is a combination of too old, too young, and a little overrated. Pettitte and Wang are the only steady starters and until the past few weeks the bullpen was very shaky.
I also think team chemistry plays a role on championship teams and this team had none last year. Lately, Cabrera/Cano/Duncan/Joba/Phillips have been breathing life into these jaded millionaires.
I predict a first round exit.
arod is god
i'm a new yorker but i hate baseball. anything a bunch of fatasses can be good at shouldn't be considered "athletic" unless it's a contact sport (in which case the weight would be advantageous). the best yankees insult i've ever heard was, "jeter sucks arod".
However, i'm currently wearing a NY Knicks tshirt. Don't get me started on how much we've sucked (yes, WE, the Knicks represent OUR city because it is WE that buy the tickets and diabetes-inducing foodstuffs that generates revenue for the team) in recent years. A suggestion by the sports guy that the Knicks might acquire Shaq when he gets old made me want to cry because I can almost see it happening. And don't get me started on the Ewing theory either.

Better yet, the Yankees won't make the playoffs. Then I want to have a box seat, field level for the Steinbrenner implosion. That will be followed by 35% of all Yankee fans claiming they're "baseball fans" or fans of another team. The remaining 65% will talk about the glory days and 26 WC's ad nauseum. Be sure the number 26 will come up in every single discussion.
Just to answer the original question:
"There is no such thing as momentum in baseball. You are only as good as your next start."

Who cares about football?
Steinbrenner is physically and mentally incapable of implosions, so don't think this is going to happen.
If they don't make the playoffs I think Torre will be let go for the sake of change. My pick would be Girardi and he'd be given some leeway to make the roster younger. He showed in Florida that he can deal with young players. How he deals with the veterans will be interesting. The team needs life.
Nag all you want about Yankee fans, we're filling the stadium every night, watching on the YES Network, and buying the Pink Hats. This is giving the team all the money it needs to keep making Mussina, Pavano, Giambi, Clemens, Wright, Damon, Igawa, mistakes and still contend.
