Listen to me now and hear me later. USC will go into Nebraska as a title contender and lose. I could be way off base, but I don't think the Trojans will win in Lincoln, their only saving grace is that the game is played in September. Move the game to late October or early November and no doubt Nebraska wins factoring in the weather. USC wasn't that impressive agaisnt NU last year at home. This is my pick for the biggest early season upset,
I think this is a pretty good argument. Lincoln, Nebraska is absolutely the hardest place to play college football. They've got nothing else to do in Nebraska, the fans are rabid, and the conditions are always adverse (if not cold, then blustery). I've been to the Rose Bowl and I've been to see Michigan play at home, and nothing compares to Nebraska crowds. However, I still believe USC wins narrowly and goes on to the title game. As for the dipshit who claimed USC plays a weak schedule, USC killed the #2 SEC, #2 Big Twelve, #2 Big Ten, and Notre Dame last year. Sagarin had them playing the second toughest schedule in football. At least they play tough out of conference opponents, unlike Florida or Alabama or most of the rest of the SEC.
That said, the SEC is a tough as hell conference, and the team that was really the best in that conference by the end of the year last year could very well play SC in the title game. I'm talking about LSU. Louisville should be very good this year as well, West Virginia plays pretty much nobody, and Texas does seemingly have an easy road in, but I believe Oklahoma will get the better of them this year. Opponent matters not this year though. The Trojans are men among boys this year. I do hope they get to play LSU in the championship game in Louisiana though (the matchup they should have had four years ago) and crush LSU in their own backyard to bring these arrogant SEC fans back down to reality.
