I found it a little surprising that so many people have said 'no'. She's twice world champion in the 1500m; it's not like we're talking about a hammer thrower.
I'd expect the people who visit this site to know more about their sport.
She was also quite recognizable physically because of her long hair - flowing back in races not unlik ethe young Miss Hasay
Obviously much fewer people knew about her because she is a woman. Most of the people on letsrun are men, and thus only care (usually, but not always) about the men's side of the sport. Do you think most basketball fans care about the WNBA or can name more than 5-10 players in it? No.
