Dana Ellis cleared a new national record for Canada today at a meet at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego, California. She jumped 4.52 (14'11"). She was left off of the World Champs Team.
Another example on Canada screwing their athletes.

Don't let it bother you... that height is only good for a tie for #393 on the all-time list.
It's an A standard and ranks in the top 20 this year.

Do you know why she wasn't picked?

Because she's Canadian.
If she did it today and didn't have A standard before that then she didn't do it within the Canadian qualifying period which is shorter than the IAAF qualifying period. The standards are also tougher than those that the IAAF sets and Canadian athletes are forced to repeat the different standards in some combination within the qualifying period.
I believe she had the "A" standard as of April when she jumped 4.46.
Who cares, this is a distance running site. Take your pole vault stuff elsewhere.
The Canadian sport authorities would sooner send a contingent of para-athletes to some obscure event for disabled athletes, and mint their likeness on our currency, than send qualified able bodied athletes to a World Championships. Just another example of our politically correct, screwed up, left wing country that proudly harbours terrorists and welfare recipients and French speakers of all stripes. Viva La Canada!
Anybody notice that it really seems like Athletics Canada doesn't want to send athletes to the worlds, whether they qualify or not. What's with the toughr standards than the rest of the planet? We stick wheelchair curlers on a quarter but we can't send world class athletes to international championships?
there are many examples of canada screwing their athletes, not just this year, even though there were many this year, but other years also, i think back to schiebler for athens which directly led to his retirement from the sport, sad it is
