I know that painkillers dont heal injuries and shouldnt be taken long term, but are there any bad effects to taking it over the counter drugs such as Advil once in a while before a run for minor pains?

bump
anyone?
I ran in college. Lots of runners take a advil for almost any new pain. The trainers said just don't do it "too much"
Funny you should ask this. I'm nursing two injuries and after running (which I'm kind of not supposed to be doing), I can barely walk. This afternoon I popped two Advil & one Tylenol because I was really hurting; an hour later I was actually walking normally (I usually limp, whether before or after running). I don't think I want to get into this long-term, but I'm curious as to whether this would help me run "normally." It seems to be the right combination.
