That is some serious rivalry talk there. The time wasn't fast though. I'll believe Ethiopia has a chance when they start producing sub-8 guys. If they do though that would be a sweet rivalry, 3 on 3 Olympic final: go for broke or go home!

true, but the ethiopians had zero steeplers last year ... and they seem to be building up.
back in the late 80's early 90's there were very few ethiopians challenging a sea of kenyans in the 5 and 10k and now ethiopians are almost as dominant as the kenyans.
Shocking that from 91 - 07 Ethiopians have won all but one gold in the 10k ... and also many medals in the 5k
go watch the athens steeple final....then tell me anyone has a chance. Like someone posted above...lets see some sub 8 times first b4 the talk. Oh and btw, always look where the kenyans ran their time.....it could be at altitude. when they come down to sea level for international comp.....watch out.
True Demar....lets wait and see if they will even get one guy reaching the finals...remember Ethio won the first gold in marathon olympics back in 60's but they never went far...I mean no other marathon golds after and the fact that the WR (marathon) belongs to Kenya leaves alot desired from Ethiopia side....

I beleive Roba Gari, is the most fit and mature runner. He ran 5:19 in the 2000 SC. I believe he has 8:05 capabilities but he had a fall in a recent race and lost some training time.
He was beat by Nahom Mesfin in the recent African Champs.. so things don't look good for him.
He doesn't have too much time to get back in shape. At 26 he has another couple of years to make an impact.
The juniors are the ones that are intrguing because they are running times that Roba and Nahom were running last year.
I think that in two years these guys will be running with the kenyans.
