In a recent post, it was suggested that in order to get my time down for an upcoming race that I might want to lose a few pounds, that this was advantage so good it was almost "like cheating." I know there is a terrible problem with anorexia and female runners, but I wanted to start a thread about weight loss for otherwise healthy runners who are in no danger of being anorexic. I was always one of those people who could eat himself into oblivion and never gain weight. After I hit my mid thirties, I added about 12 pounds and it seems to have stuck. I DO feel a tad sluggish and my times have suffered. The irony is that I've never looked better, since I was always so damn skinny, and now I think I just look fit and healthy.
For those of you who have been in your 30s, put on a few pounds, and then been careful about eating, what kind advantage has weight loss been for you? Thanks.
