blues . . . or alien?
I love both of these songs but i'm gonna have to go with blues, just because it's had more time to be appreciated as a classic

not a chance, Radiohead > Bob Dylan
alien of course, probably the most under rated radiohead song, it's incredible.
alien
This is a joke, I hope.

timeless, the pumps don't work, cuz the vandals took the handles
You're right. You can't just say anyone (or band) is better then Dylan without at least attempting to give an argument. Many consider Bob the greatest songwriter of all time. I'm 'only' 26 and got right into Radiohead about 5 years ago (I generally don't jump on bandwagons). I bought Dylan's greatest hits album about 20 months ago.
Lyrically, Bob is a genius. Radioheads lyrics often suck (and I am a big Radiohead fan). 'Let's just write minimal lyrics which are totally confusing. That way people will think that they are deep and meaningful'.
Musically Radiohead are revered and will (in time) become legendary. I persist in listening a lot to all the albums I buy (or copy) in part because I hated 'Ok Computer' when I first bought it, but grew to love it. It would have been on about the 20th listen that something clicked in me that told me that 'exit music for a film' and 'climbing up the walls' were absolute genius. The crescendo to CUTW is one of my favourite little bits of any song. I got 'alien' much earlier. Probably about the 5th listen! It's better then Dylan's song.
Lyrics = Bob Dylan
Music = Radiohead
What is the better album out of 'The Bends' and 'Ok Computer'? I used to think TB but now I'm not so sure.
'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac' are not as good, but still have their moments of briliance. Most people will only find this out if they have patience!
Are there any fans out there of Bob's brilliant son Jacob?
'Bringing Down The Horses' is arguably better then both of Radioheads best albums.
This post is too long. I have too much time on my hands.

I freaking hope so! But the Radiohead > Bob Dylan post took it to a new level.
I know this is about comparing two songs, but what really makes Dylan so good and so much better than most anyone that ever wrote music is that you can listen to his songs and they are always relevant.
"Masters of War" always works, "Blowin in the Wind" always works, "Time They are a Changin" always works. There are so many more ... "Tangled up in Blue" and "Positively 4th Street" are even better still. No one, no one, comes close to matching the volume of greatness that is Dylan's work.
Radiohead is fine, but will anyone be listening to them in 50 years? Or even 15 years?

Indeed.

And here's another one Youtube cuts off:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYO4wDYxqxgListening to 'Desolation Row' now. Already sounds timeless. I don't think I've heard it as I only have Dylans GH's double CD and his 1997 album. I will have to buy some of his early work. There is another great song that I've heard (only a pawn in the game) but don't have. I heard it on the Martin Scorsesse documentary. I have heard DR on this doc come to think of it. He has so many great songs:
It Ain't Me Babe
Shelter From The Storm
Mr. Tambourine Man
Don't Think Twice
Not Dark Yet
Etc
I'm more then liking 'Desolation Row' (even with my slow broadband breaking up the song!).
And just to make sure that Dylan fans also open their minds (and ears).

The last song is a pure gem.
Okay, the Radiohead stuff is pretty good. I will admit that I have not listened to them that much. However, they are JV compared to Dylan. It aint even close. They sound more like Oasis or Pink Floyd anyway ... it is different music.
Seems like a lot of the people posting on this board are really young. "Love and Theft" is a great Dylan album, but his best work is older.
Desolation Row is a classic.
I like your comments. I am fairly young. Only 26 but my tastes are widely varied (I must be f'ed up!).
Desolution Row is definitely a classic. But when I think of D Row I think Death Row. See, very varied tastes! I don't think that this is the thread to compare the musical genius of Dr.Dre with Bob Dylan (I'm joking).
Oasis are probably my favourite band (them and an obscure Australian band named 'Art Of Fighting'). Since we are discussing other bands, check out AOF below. If you like Dylan then you will like this. Promise.

By the way, I hate Pink Floyd!
