What happens at the start that makes it so important to watch? At least at the mile mark, you can get the runners splits.
Touche - and definitely a better question than mine...but we are saying the same thing. If you can't handle the 2-3 minute run from the start to the mile mark and are complaining about it, pick one location or the other (depending on what is more important for you to see).
On the topic of the bid requirements:
I understand that ISU has done a great job and I wasn't questioning the decision to award them the bid - no doubt that in many areas they have raised the bar quite a bit. I enjoy watching the meet at their facility.
What I was asking was what are the specific requirements that a host institution needs to address in order to put together a successful bid. I'm sure the NCAA has defined criteria that need to be addressed - and I wouldn't be surprised if their criteria have changed over the past few years since ISU has been hosting due to the great job ISU has done with the meet.
The reason I ask this is because until we know how the decision is reached, we can't intelligently address all the wankers that come on here and say "Terre Haute/ISU sucks - why did the NCAA decide to go back there instead of X location?"
