Who is Ben Folds and John Mayer?
i would say ben folds is amazing, but john mayer blows.
you clearly haven't been to many concerts.
yeah, ben folds (a pretty good pianist) & ben folds five are great. they were my first favorite band. John Mayer's pop stuff isn't near as good as his live performances and his underground songs. That's what I'm going for.
So, coming out?
hahah. underground songs? Did you really just say that?
Ben Folds is pretty amazing. He went to high school a few minutes from where I went to high school. Never met him though.
In other concert news, if there are any Morrissey fans out there, I just saw him in concert a couple weeks ago and it was quite a show. I didn't expect that kind of performance out of a 50 year old dude.
John Mayer's "underground" stuff? Really? His blues songs and solo-ing isn't exactly "underground," don't try to make it sound like you have some deeper knowledge and love for him. He plays some good blues and would be great in concert.
As for Ben Folds and John Mayer being the best combo ever in concert. That's a ton of b***shit.

i'm not calling his blues stuff underground. i just mean the songs that most people havent heard (and i still dont mean the blues stuff). and ok, it may not be the best concert ever, but it should be pretty good
You could argue that The Who and The Clash were the best combo ever.
Or maybe any number of Stones with their openers.
Or Neil Young and Drivin' n' Cryin'.
Heck, Black Flag/Gone/Painted Willie was pretty freaking spectacular.
But Ben Folds and John Mayer?!
Not to sound like a pretentious prick, but I have a 16 year old sister, so what is the John Mayer stuff nobody knows?
I went to the concert when it was in the Midwest earlier this summer. I had been to several of ben folds concerts in the past, and he was the main reason I went, but I was pretty disappointed by the brevity of his time on stage and the fact that it seemed only a small portion of the crowd were too into him. He played good though, and although I'm not nearly as big of a fan of John Mayer, I like some of this stuff, and think his most recent CD is pretty solid. I think it's also clear, as many others have already said, he is quite good live too as he is pretty good on the guitar. Certainly not as good as many of the best, but one of the better guys of this generation I'd say.
Blah, blah, blah, good shows, certainly far from best ever, and the guy who opened, i dont remember his name, kinda sucked
seriously - are you gay?
john mayer would kill any one out there today on the stringed instrument.
period
John Mayer also does some great Hendrix covers and a good Stevie Ray Vaughan cover as well. Bold as Love, Wait until Tomorrow, and Lenny, to name a few. I know he performed Crossroads at the concert at the Tweeter Center and it was simple amazing.
Yeah, like Kenny Wayne Shephard or Leo Kottke. Ha!

Ben Folds is one of my favorite musicians ever, I've seen him play twice and he's great in show, but best when he's headlining and the crowd is there for him.I would still see him again any day of the week, as for John Mayer, I wouldn't admit I like him because too many girls like him. But I will admit he's very talented at guitar, and I too like a lot of his bluesy, and less mainstream music, I just wish he'd ditch the girl songs. If i could get tickets for this show for less than 30 bucks then I would go, if i couldn't then screw it. I'd get annoyed that the 14-16 year old girls wouldn't care about Ben Folds and that they were all just their to hear Mayer.
I went to see the show this week in Nassau Long Island (the ticket was a gift).
I liked both bands, but Ben Folds' voice did not sound so great (much better on the CD). John Mayer is very talented--a great guitarist!
Still, the venue was too big for me, and I felt pretty disconnected.
are they going near philadelphia any time soon?
