3. This isn't his event. He is doing it to be better at the 1500m. Going out in 1:50 is a lot easier if you've run 1:44 (so is closing in 25 for the last 200m). So really, he isn't doing it for a good time, or a win, but for training, so that he can win when it matters.
A few people have mentioned that because some of the competitors in the race have faster PB's, then Webb isn't going for the Win.
