I was traveling last week and decided to pick up the recent issue of Runner's World, the one with Hall on the cover. My past experience with this magazine has been that it caters to the overweight, shuffling 10 mpw crowd and tends to talk people out of doing things like increasing mileage or trying hard. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised by this issue. The article on the Hansons-Brooks runners, in particular, was just great. I couldn't believe that this magazine was doing a real article on serious runners and discussing things like the state of competitive distance running in the US. Granted, the penguin still presented a page of crap, and there was still a good deal of information that was mostly fluff. But overall I really enjoyed the magazine. Bravo, Runner's World magazine. You're finally writing about runners again.
