As a incoming college freshman i was thinking about the transition, and i was wondering how it was for people who have done it. Its really not that much more, but does it feel tougher? When it comes to strategy do you need to rethink that?

it's different but not that big of a difference, it's longer and takes getting used to, but it's not like you're gonna hit 4 miles and die, you just keep going. in my best 8k of the season freshman year I pred in the 5k at the same time, don't try and do that your first race though. I find no matter what the pace is that if i put in a surge around the start of 4 miles it wakes me up and really gets me rolling through 4 and 5
i think that what is neat about the transition is that lots of people end up stretching their high school 5k pr pace to their 8k pace. good luck and keep running!
i think the main difference is that you cant go out extremely fast and still run well. it definitely requires more even pacing
