I'm coming off an injury where my upper shin muscles were completely overstressed and inflamed. The doctors i saw got me in a bulky trainer w/ massive heels, and custom orthotics. However, i still felt inflamed afterwards and noticed that the new trainers force me to heelstrike, which causes more stress on the shin muscles. The past couple weeks i've tried to run in racing flats on soft surfaces and i already feel considerably less pain. i heelstrike significantly less and it's feels more natural. so, is this the right approach to eliminating this injury? and if so, what are some tips i can follow to transition smoothly without stress fractures or any of that shit?
